What a wonderful week here in Centerville! HOLY MOLY! Heavenly Father has really stepped in and blessed us!
We've been praying for help in finding people to
teach. The past few weeks have been VERY slow, despite our best efforts
to find.
Saturday evening we met with a member to check up on
them and offer service. As we left, the member said he wanted to offer
the prayer. He offered the most beautiful prayer on our behalf and
asked that we be blessed with a "wonderful missionary opportunity" that
day. After the prayer, he said that he usually never prayed like that
but felt impressed to pray that at the moment. As we were biking to an
area to go contacting, a lady named Paulette waved us down and was
ELATED to see us! Turns out she met with missionaries two years ago,
then moved and lost contact, but has kept the Book of Mormon, "has never
prayed harder" and wants to be taught again! It was seriously a
MIRACLE! Paulette is awesome! We're going by later today to teach her
and her family. She kept saying how we've blessed her and how she's
been praying to see us again. Wow! It was so neat to see a specific
prayer answered directly like that!
Then, yesterday, it was a rainy, cool day after church,
and we had some time to find after church and before our dinner
appointment. The people we had planned to see weren't home, so we
decided to head back to the apartment and re-plan. On our way back, we
saw a lady who was pulled over to the side of the road with her hazard
lights on and hood up. We decided to go over and see if we could help
out. Whitney was SO grateful that we stopped. She had been waiting for
someone to pull over and help her for 30 minutes, and no one had. She
drove her over-heated car slowly back to her apartment and asked that we
follow to make sure she made it. Turns out, she lives in the apartment
complex directly beside us! She was so grateful, and is LOOKING FOR A
CHURCH!! Of course we told her about ours, and just last night she
texted us and invited us back to tell her more!
We are so grateful for the little tender mercies
Heavenly Father has blessed us with! These back-to-back experiences
have really testified to me that we "...receive no witness until after
the trial of your faith". It has been a rough few weeks, but we've kept
plugging along, doing what we could, praying for the Lord to intervene,
and HE DID! The Lord delivers. He is a God of His word, and if we are
doing what we need to be doing, He will NEVER withhold blessings from
us.
I love my family so much! I'm so grateful for the
Restored Gospel that makes it possible for us and for others to be
together again! I know that Heavenly Father knows us, and loves us
dearly. He is eagerly awaiting to hear our reports in our prayers.
Know that you are loved and prayed for!
Love,
Elder Jason Allred
